TENTEN: Yes, its Jonida!
Jonida Vokshi is super famous on TV, on film, on theatre... She's also a hoodie-wearing, city-hopping, dancing queen that lives in between Prishtina and Tirana.
We love spending time with Jonida, who always brings a breath of fresh air in any environment she walks into. The talks with her are always about movies, music, TV series and anything creative that comes in our mind.
Jonida has graduated in directing, but she was always present on TV screens, moderating TV shows in Albania, interviewing fun and famous folks at her own flagship show; playing in feature films (from “Albanian Virgin” to Oscar-nominated “Open Door” on big screen); acting tough tragicomic character in “The Memory of Water” (the contemporary comedy written by English playwright Shelagh Stephenson).
Last few years, Jonida became daily feature across all media and social channels with her moderating role of VIP Big Brother in Kosovo. We tried hard not to ask her about BB, because she has so much to say about many other things.
So here’s our TENTEN interview with Jonida.
You've acted on TV, theatre, movies, you have popular social media channels. What is one thing you would really love to do professionally in the future?
Frankly, I would love to - and I work hard towards - being a part of a big film project that can reach a Category A film festivals like Cannes and Venice. It’s the dream of all actors.
What's one film or a book or piece of music that really influenced you in formative years?
Beethoven’s Moonlight sonata, a masterpiece that has given me great vibes in different, meaningful moments of my life. It really has a calming effect on me. It makes me not overthink too much or think positively.
What’s the last thing you watched on TV or cinema?
Oh, I just saw Joker: Folie A Deux. A bit overrated I have to say, but I enjoyed it enough.
You're from Tirana, married to a man from Prishtina. What's your favorite Kosovo dish and what's his favorite dish from Albania?
Well, I’m afraid it’s gonna be pies and pastries. My fave dish in Kosovo is my mother-in-law’s spinach pie. A classic! Besnik’s favorite dish in Albania, as far as I know, is the traditional baked cheese.
What is one thing you love and hate most about living in Prishtina?
Tough question. The thing I love about PR is the vibe it gives me when I’m out with my good friends in our favorite places. Those moments I cherish and don’t want them to end. What I hate in PR? Frankly, Pristina has become somehow a smaller, emptier city with not so many opportunities.
Skiing in Brezovica OR swimming in Qeparo?
Although I love the cosiness of Brezovica, I’m not a skiing person. I’m a very, very summer person. So I’m afraid it’s always a swim in Qeparo.
White wine, unplanned, middle of the day OR red wine in a fancy dinner in the evening?
It totally depends on who I’m with. But I like unplanned, long lunches - but with red wine ;)
Headphones OR earplugs?
Headphones, nice big ones.
Sweater OR hoodie?
Hoodie. Always a hoodie.
Drake OR Kendrick?
Kendrick!
