TENTEN: VIVA VEDAT!
Suzanne interviewed Vedat Muriqi, one of best Kosovar football players ever. We had some good questions, he gave all great answers, including stuff we never knew about Vedat!
We had a great convo with Vedat Muriqi, AKA The Pirate of Mallorca. Vedat is key football player for Kosovo national team and the Spanish Primera Division’s Real Mallorca. He also played for Fenerbahçe and Lazio but started his career in Liria of Prizren. We interviewed him few datys after he scored two goals for Kosovo against Cyprus.
We had ten (actually eleven) short questions; he gave ten (plus one) great, funny and revealing answers. Read our TENTEN interview with Vedat, the victorious.
1. So Vedat, the first question is most important: Spanish paella or Albanian Elbasan tava?
Oh, it’s an easy one. It’s Elbasan tava till I die!!!
2. You're a great team player but if you were in a music band, what instrument would you play and what would your band name be?
I think drums, and the band would be named like my nickname: Los Piratas 😂
3. If you were a superhero, what would your special football power be?
I would want superhero strength.
4. Do you have a pre-match ritual that you’ve never told anyone about?
Actually not, but I can mention that I drink a lot of water. If I don’t drink tons of water, I feel that something is gonna go wrong during the game .
5. Albanian Riviera or a beach in Spain?
Beach in Spain (sorry for that, but I have to be honest) ❤️
6. Spanish and Albanian music both have lively, energetic vibes. Do you have a favorite song from each country that you listen to before a game?
Well, in Albanian I can say I listen to Yll Limani ft Dafina Zeqiri’s song “Jom ka du met pas” while in Spanish, I just have a lot of Spanish reggaeton, which I listen to before the match.
7. In both Spain and Kosovo, family is a big deal. What’s the best piece of advice your family gave you before coming to play in Spain?
I’m blessed that they always support me. Especially my wife. She’s the first one that suffers beacause of my job! But she always said: “If you feel and believe that a decision is going to be good for you, just keep going and doing what you want! Follow your instinct!” I really appreciate that kind of support from her. ❤️❤️❤️
8. You speak many languages. What's your favorite angry word when you play football in Albanian, Spanish, Turkish and English?
Oh. Can I be that rude? :))) Well, in Albanian is “T’i q*fsha r*bt”, in Spanish it’s “Me c*go en la p*ta”, in Turkish is “Am*na ko*im”. In English? I guess it’s: “What a shame”. 😂
9. Which one of your team players could never learn Albanian folk dance valle?
Uff, a lot of them would be totally unable to do our steps. If I start to mention them by name, I’ll have to write half of the team.
10. A ma mirë ktu a atje?
It’s vendlindjaa siempreeee! ❤️ But you forgot the usual follow up questions: “Kur ke ardhë? Dhe kur po shkon?” 😂
Bonus question (we just had to ask): Sooo, Ronaldo or Messi?
Oh, this is a very provocative question - I’m a Messi fan!
