Black Shame for No Shame.
Marrja Zezë platform is celebrating its five years anniversary of working with arts, storytelling, music for some inter-generational healing in diaspora and Kosova.
Have you heard about "Marrja Zezë" collective? We had a quick chat with Jehona in Berlin to find out more about her work and an important anniversary party.
“Marrja Zezë” a fantastic diaspora platform dedicated to organizing social and artistic events that focus on mental health and the freedom of being. It’s also a space where art, storytelling, and free spirits come together to create safe havens for audiences, all while diving into the world of intergenerational healing. And they know how to do it with style and a good dose of humor!
A Celebration for Mothers and Muses
The next event is set to celebrate five years of tireless work from the "Marrja Zezë" team. After years filled with events addressing various themes, this time it’s all about honoring mamas and muses—not in the conventional sense, though! Who needs the conventional when you can talk about mythology, queer culture, and those special stories that fuel our souls? So don’t be surprised if you see mothers and muses frolicking in the gallery, proudly waving their flags of freedom!
Meet the one that banned the shame - Jehonë Jahaj
The founder of Marrja Zezë is Jehonë Jahaj. Born in Kosova and raised in Berlin, she’s a poet who grown with every word she speaks. Jehonë is a social worker who knows the magic recipe for community building. She created Marrja Zezë with the initial event with her artist friends intending to bury shame, fear, guilt as sources of stress and bad stuff unfolding in Kosova and the world. From there, she continued building up the narrative, always using some permanent symbolic elements like the rose flowers.
Jehona’s here to guide the audience through a whirlwind of poetry and stories, taking us on an emotional rollercoaster. And let’s not forget the incredible "ARBËRESHË", her close friend, who will serenade the guests with traditional songs in a way that will leave you utterly enchanted. This is going to be a night to remember…
Performances That Will Blow Your Mind
Rumor is that the event in Berlin will feature performances out of this world! We've got Zain Saleh with his brilliant dramaturgy, the fabulous drag queen Bolbola ready to dazzle with color and flair, activist Cat Jugravu bringing her fiery passion, and Sanya Manzoor, our spiritual coach, who will help us connect our souls with our minds.
A Unique Venue for a Unique Night for a Unique Organization
Of course, this magical evening will take place at "The Ballery," an unconventional gallery in the Schöneberg neighborhood. If you feel like an inner artist (and who doesn’t?), this is the place to be. So, who ever is in Berlin on Friday 6th, grab your friends and prepare for a fun fare full of freedom and fiction.
The opportunities to enjoy art, culture, and mental health awareness are at the core of Marrja Zezë. Be there or be square.
